An iPad application that supported the exhibition of a historic piece of furniture at the Frick Collection in New York and at the Galerie Kugel in Paris.
In order to satisfy the encyclopaedic dimension inherent in the Table de Breteuil, a large part of the available time was dedicated to the production of the large number of images used by the application (128 minerals are catalogued). The other constraint considered during the design phase was that the public targeted by the exhibition was not - a priori - familiar with tactile interfaces.
For these two reasons, the interaction model has been kept very simple, and does not particularly take advantage of the possibilities offered by multitouch. However, we have ensured that this simplicity does not detract from the quality of the result.
Working with one of the leading antique dealers in Paris, Alexis Kugel, whose attentive and demanding eye closely followed the design of the project, was a very rewarding experience.
