During a few weeks mission on the mobile application, I participated among other things to the redesign of the video player for the iOS and Android applications. It was necessary to be able to control the playback of the video, but also to offer the user the possibility to fave, share, appreciate or add a comment.
The video can be displayed in several ways to suit the level and direction of the user's attention: immersed in the story, additional information with or without controls, consultation of comments.
For the playback controls we have facilitated fast scrolling and 10s rewinds/forwards by providing comfortably sized touch zones, which require less gestural precision (useful when the thumb is used for these controls). You can try it for yourself, on iOS or Android.
Two years later, no complaints have been received by the team, users seem to live well with this improvement.
